Ministry of the Interior National Immigration Agency (Penghu County First Service Center) recently organized the “St. Nicholas Day of 2022 – Domestic Education Class and Promotion of the Act of Residency and Permanent Residency” Inviting new immigrants to different Christmas celebration.

Zhu Li-An, the new immigrant French chef, runs a French restaurant “Brasserie Lucienne” with his wife. As the lecturer for the class, he was committed to French cuisine of meat and insisted on producing wholesome meat free of nitrites and preservatives. Zhu Li-An also uses French cooking methods combined with local Penghu ingredients. He won the second place in the 2018 Penghu Creative Cuisine Competition of Spanish Mackerel.

Zhu Li-An introduced the origin and customs of St. Nicholas Day, and local Christmas culture of Europe. He also brought some souvenirs for the kids that behave well. But "Black Pete," who would punish naughty children. The sudden quietness and good behavior of all the kids made their parents laugh.

Mannele and Choucroute, two traditional French dishes were entirely handmade, have been prepared by the class. Zhu Li-An has elaborated on the cuisine and shown how to make the dough. The new immigrants gained unique experience from the class.

Penghu County First Service Center collaborates with Specialized Operation Corps to promote the 9th Dream-Building Project for New Immigrants and Their Children as well as the prevention of human trafficking and promote the act of resident and permanent residents of aliens. The service center also invited the Penghu Motor Vehicles Office of the Directorate General of Highways, Ministry of Transportation and Communications, to support the regulation on the approval certificate for riding an electric (power-auxiliary) two-wheeled bicycle and the most recent rules on technology enforcement.

According to Director of Penghu Chiu Guo-Zhi County Service Center, Chiu Guo-Zhi “The 9th Dream-Building Project for New Immigrants and Their Children” helps continuously on helps new immigrants and their children achieve their goals in Taiwan. The deadline for event registration is extended to December 19th. The applicants are welcome to apply to the National Immigration Agency as soon as possible.
