To encourage more people to adopt black dogs, the New Taipei City Animal Protection Office teamed up with the Taiwan Animal Protection Monitor Network and 14 village chiefs to host the “Finding Happiness for Black Dogs” event on the eve of “World Black Dog Day” on October 1st, actively promoting the adoption of black mixed-breed dogs. Many people mistakenly believe that black dogs are unlucky, which results in them being the most numerous and least adopted in shelters. Therefore, the event aims to dispel this myth and help people understand the loyal, adorable, and intelligent nature of black dogs, making them an excellent choice for novice pet owners.

During the event, 14 village chiefs participated in a roundtable discussion to brainstorm and promote the Animal Protection Community Action Plan, bringing the concept of animal friendliness into grassroots communities. Wang Yin-jun, leader of the Black Dog Troop, also shared her experience, showcasing the loyalty and charm of black dogs. She emphasized that black mixed-breed dogs are not only healthy and less prone to illness, but also smart and easy to train, making them the top choice for beginner pet owners.

Special adoption benefits offered by the New Taipei City Animal Protection Office for adopting black dogs:
- Adoption Gift Package: Starting today, those who adopt black dogs from any of the eight public animal shelters in New Taipei City will receive an "Adoption Gift Package," which includes a gold rice bowl designed by the Juming Museum, a pet bed, harness, pet food, canned food, and other generous gifts.
- Pet Platinum Card: Adopters will also enjoy free rabies vaccinations, internal and external parasite prevention, medical checkups, and complimentary cremation and tree burial services, reducing the economic burden on pet owners.
