As Taiwan sees a rise in imported cases, Taipei City has stepped up measures to fight the coronavirus including making masks mandatory at the city government, medical institutions, public venues, public transports, schools, and large social events. Besides, masks are once again compulsory on the Taipei Metro.
Taiwan's Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced August 5 that the strict policy on mask-wearing is also compulsory at schools, places of worship, medical and health facilities, public transports, venues of entertainment (KTVs, sports centers, nightclubs, bars, amusement parks), cinemas and concerts, markets (night markets, shopping malls, farmers markets), and large social events, so as to avoid risks of infection.
Taipei City Government has carried out the highest standard response machanisam on disease control. As the pandemic worldwide hasn't eased, citizens in Taiwan have to follow the government's disease control measures and policies, Taipei Health Department stated.
Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC) and Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation (KRTC) remind passengers to wear masks when taking the MRT to avoid infections. Violators will be fined up to NT$15,000. Wearing masks is also compulsory on the Danhai LRT.
