  • New immigrants and foreigners are free of charge for Taipei International Book Exhibition

From January 31st to February 5th, The Taipei International Book Exhibition will be held at the Hall 1 of the Taipei World Trade Center. The exhibition this year includes 10 major themes and 10 features, gathers 470 exhibitors of 32 nations. This year, transit cards will replace paper tickets. The public can access with iPass, icash2.0, and EasyCard. Foreigners who hold passports and new immigrants who hold residence permits can visit for free.

  • The NIA cracked the "Vietnam Mark Six" gambling station

The Specialized Operation of NIA Taipei City Service Center cracked the Vietnam gambling station before Spring Festival. A female nation used a Vietnamese restaurant as a cover to run the Mark Six in private to earn illegal gambling money. The suspect introduced Vietnamese Lottery and used menus as gambling slips for gamblers to sign bets to avoid police investigation. The special case team searched the restaurant, and the evidence was discovered. The entire case was forwarded to the criminal inquiry as the crime of gambling.

  • 35 immigration officers are added to guard the border.

A total of 35 students stood out from 1,100 candidates this year and completed 9 months of professional training as immigration officers. The director of National Immigration Agency (鐘景琨) presented awards to outstanding trainees. Many trainees excel in multiple languages. Other trainees are also with backgrounds such as "the second-generation immigrants", "flight attendants" and "foreign business elites."   • Transportation Subsidies of Kaohsiung City for Pregnant New Immigrants

The Kaohsiung Pregnancy Bus(好孕行得通專車) is specially translated into multiple languages for pregnant new immigrants. The mayor of Kaohsiung City (陳其邁) concerns about the safety of expectant mothers. The Social Affairs Bureau specifically planned the subsidy program for vulnerable pregnant women to secure their traffic safety. In the prenatal checkup medical center, pregnant women can obtain the traffic ticket, a total of 28 trips, each with a denomination of NT$180 and transportation service values NT$5,040.
