According to the VnExpress, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh of Vietnam has stated that no activities with huge gatherings will be permitted during the New Year and Lunar New Year holidays.

Because the new COVID-19 variant Omicron is more transmissible than the Delta variant, it is critical to ensure that people have early access to medical assistance and that medical capability is increased.

As of January 17, the total number of cases in Vietnam was 2,023,546, with 244,570 new cases in the past two weeks, and the death toll was 35,609. More than 70 cases of the imported Omicron cases have entered Vietnam.

Vietnam has granted a three-day New Year holiday from January 1 to 3, as well as a nine-day Lunar New Year holiday from January 29 to February 6. The Ministry of Health of Vietnam calls on the public to stop non-essential gatherings during the Spring Festival to reduce the risk of community transmission and ensure the health and safety of the people in Vietnam.
