Harvard to relocate its Mandarin Chinese study program to National Taiwan University in 2022!

Six official languages are recognized by the United Nations including the Chinese language. In the world, there are more than 1.3 billion people who speak Mandarin Chinese as their mother tongue, and learning Chinese is a popular trend.

In 2022, Harvard University in the United States and National Taiwan University will co-organize the "Harvard Taipei Academy", inviting American students to Taiwan to enjoy the Chinese culture.

According to the Liberty Times Net, in the past, Harvard University cooperated with

Beijing Language and Culture University for nine-week courses. The classes were conducted in both indoor and outdoor places to immerse themselves in Chinese culture.

National Taiwan University said that due to the impact of the pandemic, the program collaborated with Harvard University will be postponed to the summer vacation of 2022. It is expected that 60 American students will come to Taiwan to experience Taiwan’s Chinese society and culture, and they will be able to visit well-known tourism spots that combine nature and humanities such as Jiufen old street (九份), the National Palace Museum (故宮) and Yangmingshan (陽明山), etc.

Minister of education Pan Wen Zhong (潘文忠) takes a positive attitude and warmly welcomes the cooperation between global schools and Taiwan's educational institutions.

Ministry of education launched the "Excellent Chinese Program of Taiwan" (台灣優華語計畫) this year to reward and subsidize Taiwan’s premier universities that generate leading-edge teaching of Chinese language to form an alliance with the United States and Europe's world-class universities.

Ten schools that received subsidies for the first time include Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages (文藻外語大學), Tunghai University (東海大學), National Tsing Hua University (國立清華大學), National Cheng Kung University (國立成功大學), and National Taiwan University (國立台灣大學). Through educational exchanges, the Chinese language of Taiwan will be promoted.
