According to DFA exec: Egypt vows to give priority to Filipinos moving out of Gaza | Global News (inquirer.net), according to Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega, the Egyptian administration has pledged to prioritize the evacuation of Filipinos as soon as the Rafah border crossing opens on October 20.

As far as de Vega is concerned, the only secure route out of the war-torn Gaza Strip is the Rafah border crossing near Egypt.

When De Vega met with the Egyptian ambassador October 19, their government stated that Filipino travelers would receive precedence. In an interview, de Vega stated that he had promised to give the Philippines priority at the border.

De Vega stated that, at this moment, according to DFA exec: Egypt vows to give priority to Filipinos moving out of Gaza | Global News (inquirer.net), he was unable to provide an exact date for the border's opening but that it may happen any day now or within the next 24 hours.

According to De Vega, they anticipate between 80 and 90 Filipinos to breach the Rafah border.
