According to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, when describing her late Lola Lucing, Rufa Mae Quinto once said that she was everything to her—a grandmother, mother, friend, and mentor all rolled into one.

While she thought back to her early years, she recognized that many of the skills she acquired as a famous actress and comedienne came from being raised by her grandmother.

She used to tell me to get up early in the morning so that I wouldn't miss out on the blessings that God wishes to give us. So, to clean the house and have breakfast, we would already be up early. "I think that taught me how to be a professional and to always be on time," she remarked.

Rufa Mae remembers her Lola Lucing as a strong and diligent woman who instilled in her the value of maintaining a cheerful or upbeat mindset. "She traded goods for a living. She would go around the city hall starting in the morning to sell jewelry, chicharon, or other items, the woman recalled.
