According to INQUIRER.net | Philippine news for Filipinos , On January 11, 2023, Korean performers who would be participating in Sinulog 2023 are scheduled to arrive in Cebu City. They are from the Wonju City organization Hwacheon Beomamgol Nongak Preservation Association. Director Sim Jea Rang and choreographer Lee Jong Hwa from South Korea's Wonju Dynamic Dancing Carnival, where multiple Sinulog Grand Champions were able to perform and represent the Philippines, are in charge of the ensemble.
On January 13, at 6 o'clock, the Korean performers would also put on an hour-long show in Plaza Independencia, according to Ricky Ballesteros, president of the Korea Philippines Festival Cultural Exchange Association (KPFCEA Philippines).
Since Korean tourists make up the majority of visitors to the nation, Ricky Ballesteros claims that the participation of Korean dancers will significantly increase tourism in Cebu and the entire nation. Additionally, it has been noted that Korean tourists are extremely drawn to Cebu, and not just for its beaches, shopping centers, cuisine, and festivities like Sinulog.
Ballesteros also mentioned that there would be Koreans viewing the Sinulog Festival in groups. The Sinulog festival in Cebu City was recognized as one of the top three festivals in Asia in May 2022 by a South Korean-based organization last year.
