Embracing Diversity starting at Young Age: Taichung City Focus on the Education of The New Resident

The Education Bureau of Taichung City Government held an awards ceremony of “108 National Excellent Multicultural Lesson Plans Selection” at the National Taichung Special Education School for the Visually Impaired on 30th November. The activity has received up to 122 projects which have outstanding designs. After evaluated by the evaluation committee, Sacred Hearts High School in Yunlin County, Minhe Middle School in Chiayi County, and Jinhu Elementary School in Jinhu town of Kinmen County are awarded Advanced by the deputy chief education officer.

The Education Bureau states that with the frequent migration of global migration, the phenomenon of cross-cultural marriage is becoming more and more common, and the education of the new residents’ children has also become highly valued. To encourage more educational staff to be devoted to the new residents’ children, it is hoped that “National Excellent Multicultural Lesson Plans Selection” will provide teachers with a deeper understanding of multiculturalism to be integrated into their teaching and lead their students to embrace the new culture.

Moreover, the Taichung City government has adopted new methods for student’s education, courses teaching, teachers’ training, and parental assistance for the new residents’ children. Additionally, it has also adopted multicultural education that integrates courses and teaching to promote diversified and qualified education.
