The police station in Maoli has to deal with over 300 foreigners involved cases in a year. If there weren’t a translator, the police can’t solve the case and not even be able to protect the right of the person involved. The official has been installed translation online service including 30 different languages, 200 translators involved, even the Kurdish languages.
The first part of the online translation service is for common translation, mostly South East Asian Language and English. The second part of the service are 22 other languages, includes Japanese, Korean, Urdu, and Bengali language. The third part is to cover the lack of the former two parts by making use of the technology. The police official has bought the interpreter, and translation APPs to help with the communicate when solving a case.
Commissioner of the Maoli police station, Weng Chun Neng, said that Maoli is located by the other two tourist cities, Sanyi and Nanchuang, and the Tour De Taiwan cycling path, so the foreign tourists come here for help often. For example, the official found out two Bangladeshis people with the overstaying visa. But there is no one understand Bengali language to take the statement. The police soon made use of the online translation service to contact the translator in Taoyuan City. Meanwhile, they used the interpreter first to help understand the case in order to move on.
