Sun, Jin-Yu (孫金玉), a 57-year-old new immigrant from Thailand has an innate art of painting. A visiting volunteer from Tzu Chi in the North District encouraged her to give full play to this natural talent.

when Sun, Jin-Yu (孫金玉) was a sixth grader, she took an art class in Thailand she was then enlightened in art. Sun’s father suffered a stroke and was paralyzed in her 20s, she had dropped out of college and came to Taiwan to work as a female worker to help her mother to support the family. Sun met her husband at the age of 35 and gave birth to a daughter after getting married in Taiwan. Unfortunately, her husband was blinded in the right eye, paralyzed in the left hand and lower body in an accident. Challenges came one after another in Sun’s life. At that time, she had not yet received Taiwanese citizenship which made her unable to work to support family. After being supported by the social volunteers, her life finally settled.

Sun, Jin-Yu (孫金玉) was encouraged by her teacher to paint during her spare time at work or taking care of her family. The difficulties and pressures in life can be relieved through the process of painting creation.
