According to More cruise ships seen sailing to PH | Inquirer Business, more cruise ships have arrived, allowing the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) to be prepared for the influx of travelers expected for the next Christmas season. These ships had been grounded for three years due to travel restrictions brought on by the epidemic.

On October 18, PPA spokeswoman Eunice Samonte stated that 40,000 passengers from cruise ships are expected to arrive in the last quarter.

Norwegian Cruise Line, Holland America Line, SilverSea Cruises, Windstar Cruises, and AIDA Cruises are a few of the cruise lines sending ships to the nation.

Since cruise tourism resumed in February, the local ports had accommodated 46,657 passengers as of September.

According to More cruise ships seen sailing to PH | Inquirer Business, less than half of the 213,765 cruise ship passengers PPA reported in 2019 before the epidemic, or around 86,000 passengers overall, are anticipated this year.

However, Santiago is hopeful that the country's designation as the "Best Cruise Destination in Asia 2023" from the most recent World Cruise awards would spark interest and grow the industry.

The ports of Currimao in Ilocos Norte, Salomague in Ilocos Sur, Manila, Bohol, and El Nido, Palawan are among the PPA-managed ports that serve cruise ships.

More cruise terminal development is the goal of the port authority in Palawan, Siargao, Camiguin, Boracay, and Puerto Galera.

In addition to the country's stunning tourism spots, Santiago claimed that the Philippines' rich cultural heritage, mouthwatering regional cuisine, and friendly locals were drawing in visitors from outside.

According to More cruise ships seen sailing to PH | Inquirer Business, passenger traffic increased from 23.08 million in 2021 to 59.07 million last year, a growth of 156%. It is anticipated that the arrival of cruise ships this year would increase passenger volume by up to 25% in 2023.
