The 5th edition of the "Moonlight Gathering" event is approaching. The Taitung County Government will host it at the Taitung Wave House on September 14 and 15, during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday. This year’s theme is "Moonlight Festival," inviting people from various places to connect with nature under the moonlight and experience the rich cultural heritage of Taitung's Indigenous people.
The Taitung County Government states that the "Moonlight Gathering" originates from the Paiwan tribe's traditional customs in Jinfeng Township, where people would gather and sing under the full moon, sharing emotions. Now, this cultural tradition continues at the Wave House, with the Pacific Ocean reflecting the moonlight, making it an ideal place for the tribe to gather and exchange feelings. Participants will have the opportunity to delve into the profound charm of Taitung's Indigenous culture through crafts, music, dance, and cuisine.
The event will kick off on September 14 at 6 PM, with a special "Moonlight Festival Opening Press Conference," featuring performances by Golden Melody Award-winning singer Wubisai and the Indigenous dance troupe. The "Moonlight Theater" series will follow, with performances by Golden Melody Award winner Wang Hong'en, South Island dance troupe Li Tingli Bali Culture Studio, Amis DJ Runi, and the Nongnan Beauty Group, offering a moving and surprising cultural feast.Ita is located next to Taitung Forest Park and uses its space to showcase tourism activities and craft aesthetics. Participants can experience craft aesthetics through their creations. Detailed registration information can be found on the Taitung Wave House FB fan page.
From 6 PM to 8:30 PM, the "Moonlight Marketplace" will showcase Taitung's unique cuisine and crafts, allowing visitors to enjoy local cultural charm while savoring delicious food. There will also be traditional Indigenous swing experiences, providing a unique cultural activity.
This year’s event features special "Moon Search" adventure games and "Indigenous Goodies" promotional activities, bringing more surprises and benefits to participants. Additionally, with nearby accommodations, a "Moonlight Slow Travel" housing project offers special discounts. For more details, please refer to each accommodation's official website or fan page.
