Japanese immigrant, KINOSHITA JUNICHI, launches a new book that expounds on the heartwarming story between Taiwan & Japan

KINOSHITA JUNICHI (木下諄一), who has been residing in Taiwan for more than 30 years, has published a Japanese book in 2017 named “アリガト謝謝” which means “Thank you”. The book was to enable more Japanese to know about love and donations sent from Taiwan to Japan in the aftermath of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. 10 years have passed, and Japan has given back to Taiwan by donating its COVID-19 vaccines.

A translated version of the book “アリガト謝謝” in Chinese will be officially published on March 1.

The Japanese immigrant in Taiwan, KINOSHITA JUNICHI, received the 11th Taipei Literature Award with his work “dandelion flakes (蒲公英之絮)”, and he is the first-ever award winner who is of foreign nationality. Besides, he created many other books and his Facebook Fans Page, as well as the YouTube Channel.

In the book “アリガト謝謝”, KINOSHITA JUNICHI traveled around places in Taiwan and on-the-spot interviews were also conducted to collect relevant information. He said he explained to the interviewees that he might not be able to publish the book successfully, and the interviewees still readily agreed.

To attract more Japanese readers, KINOSHITA JUNICHI uses an approachable tone and a novel writing style of "seven parts real and three parts fiction", which has struck a chord with Japanese people of all ages.

This time, the Chinese version of the book “アリガト謝謝” is published by the China Times Publishing Co., and translated by Gao Zhan Can (高詹燦). The book will bring readers back to 2011 and expound on the heartwarming story & touching friendship between Taiwan and Japan through KINOSHITA JUNICHI’s point of view.
