According to INQUIRER.NET, Tom Rodriguez revealed that he contracted the novel coronavirus several weeks ago but that he has since recovered and is now back to work.

The actor shared the news after fans wondered why he went on a social media hiatus, as seen on his Instagram video on May 13.

“I know I took a bit of a hiatus there, none of you have heard from me for a while and well, that’s because I was taking some time off and trying to recover because I tested positive for COVID,” he explained.

“I was quarantined for, let’s say, a little over four weeks since it took a while before I was deemed clinically recovered,” he added.

Rodriguez disclosed that he contracted the virus while “shooting a movie out of town,” without elaborating.

INQUIRER.NET mentions, while he initially tested negative for COVID-19 via the antigen swab test, he found out he was indeed infected after following the advice of his fiancée, Carla Abellana, to take a PCR test before going home.

“Buti na lang I took her advice and hindi muna kami nagkita noon, so there was no chance I infected her when I did test positive,” Rodriguez said.

(Fortunately, I took her advice and we did no meet up then, so there was no chance I infected her when I did test positive.)

INQUIRER.NET says, Rodriguez, who recovered “a little over a week” ago, is currently in quarantine inside a hotel for GMA’s “The World Between Us,” where he will co-star with Alden Richards and Jasmine Curtis.

“It’s great to be feeling better and back to work. Thankfully, noong nagka-COVID ako, I had very, very mild symptoms. It was very manageable,” he shared.

“I did have fevers, I did have cough and phlegm and tightness in my chest but fortunately, I didn’t have any loss of smell or taste so I was still able to eat and boost my immune system that way,” Rodriguez added.

Besides Rodriguez, many celebrities have also tested positive for COVID-19 while working on shows or movies. They include Tony Labrusca, Sunshine Cruz, Heaven Peralejo, Nikki Valdez and Barbie Imperial, among others.
