Never stop learning in times of pandemic! ‘Taipei City CooC Cloud’ is awarded WITSA 2021 ICT Excellence Award

To promote and practice equality of online education, the Taipei City CooC Cloud (臺北酷課雲) – an online platform was built to provide learning resources. After winning the Asia-Pacific Smart City E-Education and Learning Award for two consecutive years, the platform received international recognition again and won the 2021 Global ICT Excellence Award（WITSA Global ICT Excellence-E-Education & Learning Award）.

A total of 17 countries & more than 100 project applications competed for this award. Under strict international evaluation standards, Taipei City CooC Cloud stood out from the rest and won the Excellence Award.

The Department of Education, Taipei City Government stated that the ‘Taipei City CooC Cloud’ learning platform built in 2016 is based on the implementation of the concept of ‘Equality of Educational Opportunity’ to create a resource sharing cloud & learning environment, providing teachers and students with suitable and high-quality cloud learning service.

In addition, it has successively signed a memorandum of cooperation with 15 counties and cities across Taiwan to provide teachers with sharing teaching resources and solve the problem of insufficient school courses and shortage of teachers in rural areas!

In times of pandemic, ‘Taipei City CooC Cloud’ supported teachers and students to continue teaching & learning without suspension of classes. Crises were turned into opportunities with the help of the learning platform. From May 19 to July 2, the viewership of ‘Taipei City CooC Cloud’ exceeded 70 million.

It is hoped that the platform will effectively enhance the right of students to learn, and promote the trend of ‘adaptability’, ‘diversity’, and ‘autonomy’, spreading the concept of mutually beneficial learning and thereby showing the whole new side of education in Taiwan.
