On June 17, the Education Department, New Taipei City held the "2018 National High School Graduates Mayor Awards Ceremony" to recognize outstanding graduate students with outstanding performance in various fields such as moral, intellectual physical, social and aesthetics
There are a total of 2,824 junior high and senior high school students received awards and the city mayor awarded the "Special Performance Mayor Award" to 10 students. One of them is New Taipei Industrial Vocational High School student, Huang Zi-xiang (黃資翔). He is not afraid of illness and was selected as a physical and mental obstacle skill player in the 15th National Physical and Mental Disorders Skills Competition and won the fifth place in the “Computer software application”. He also received the “2019 Presidential Education Award” this year.
Guo Zu-yu (郭祖餘), a new resident from the Philippines, her family financial condition is not good since she was young, but she still worked and studied at Cebu University in the Philippines. After came to Taiwan, she studied at Dengkong Elementary School because she wanted to learn Chinese. After that, she continued to study in Tamsui Junior High School. This is the second time she received the mayor award after graduating from elementary school.
Lin Xiang-yun (林湘芸), a female student from Sacred Heart Girls High School, joined three timed of Taiwan Science Exploration Fair, which is a classification of arachnids. She received the masterpiece award, the third award, and Spirit of inquiry award.
New Taipei City Education Bureau pointed out that the Mayor's Award is divided into the "Learning Excellence Mayor Award" and the "Special Performance Mayor Award", Students with outstanding academic performance or outstanding performance in sports, skills, arts, science or creation, social services or helping others may receive this award, encourage students to develop in a pluralistic way and affirm the spirit of being long-term and constantly challenging themselves.
