Vietnam officially announced that passengers who have received sufficient doses of vaccines and possess a negative nucleic acid test (PCR) report issued within 72 hours need to follow the new “3+11” quarantine rules. “3+11” means 3-day self-isolation & 11-day self-management of health, and it takes effect from January 1, 2022.

Ministry of Health stated that the passengers are required to provide “the proof of COVID-19 recovery and vaccination record for those who have permission to travel to Vietnam”. Vietnam's new "3+11" entry rules will start on January 1, 2022; at the same time, some scheduled international flights will be resumed, including flights between Vietnam and Taiwan.

According to the new quarantine requirement, passengers must possess a negative nucleic acid test (PCR) report issued within 72 hours when entering the country. In addition, individuals must complete a health declaration, and install Vietnam’s anti-epidemic monitoring application - PC-Covid on their mobile phones.

Passengers need to serve a 3-day quarantine and the locations include homes, hotels, resorts, representative offices, dormitories, guest houses of production and business units, etc. PCR screening will be carried out on the third day of isolation, and if the result is negative, the passengers will proceed to a 11-day self-monitoring.

Those who have not been vaccinated or have not received enough doses of vaccines must serve a 7-day self-isolation and take PCR screening on the 3rd and 7th days. If the result is negative, they will proceed to health monitoring until the end of 14 days.

In addition, the Ministry of Health of Vietnam also stated that immigrants must pay for screening, isolation, health examination and treatment and other related expenses, and encourage passengers to do a quick screening on the first day of entry.
