Penghu Police publicizes importance of wearing masks to foreign fishermen

Due to the large population of foreign fishermen living at Wai-an Police Station of Beisha Police Precinct, Penghu County Police Bureau, Director Zheng Yonglin (鄭永林) recently led a group of police officers to undertake crime prevention guidance to avoid potential disputes among foreign fishermen. Director Zheng called on all fishermen to follow the government's policies. Guidance flyers were also provided in various languages, including Chinese, Thai, Indonesian, Vietnamese, and English at the places where foreign workers usually gather. There were also interpreters publicizing the importance of handwashing, wearing masks, and keeping a distance to foreign fishermen.

Director Zheng explained to the fishermen that based on Article 24 of the Immigration Act, violators who harm public safety and social orders might be fined and are not allowed to live and work in Taiwan. Police officers of Wai-an Police Station also called on captains to show concerns for their foreign fishermen so that they'll live and work in peace together. Moreover, police officers distributed a mask for each foreign fishermen to practice disease control measures.

Chief of Precinct of Beisha Police Precinct, Qiu Licheng (丘立誠), stated that disease control is the top priority and everyone's responsibility, regardless of nationality, and spreading misinformation is not allowed.
