Environment Minister Shieu Fuh-sheng noted that the "Asia Pacific AERONET Calibration and Training Center" will help Southeast Asian nations with sun photometer calibration so they can monitor aerosol optical thickness and comprehend atmospheric aerosol distribution, which will aid in understanding regional variations in sexual aerosols and foreign influences.
The Lulin Atmospheric Background Station has collaborated closely with NASA, the Central Weather Administration, and TASA for 20 years, sharing data; Shieu also said that several local governments in Taiwan have used pertinent observation data while developing regulations to avoid air pollution. Since Taiwan will now be able to supply information to Asia and Southeast Asia to support regional air pollution management and carbon reduction initiatives, the development of the "Asia Pacific AERONET Calibration and Training Center" will also enable Taiwan to become an information supplier.
The "Asia Pacific AERONET Calibration and Training Center" will, according to the Director (程家平) of the Central Weather Administration, also help Southeast Asian countries by fostering professional talent, enhancing research quality, and boosting Taiwanese scholars' confidence in their data mastery.
