Mongolian director Erdene Orosoo's "Bliss Bringer" served as the festival's opening film this year. The film discusses a war of retaliation between two nations. The moral of the story is that conflicts between various ethnic groups shouldn't escalate into unending retaliation. The film has been lauded by the worldwide cinema media as being thought-provoking in light of the present state of the globe.

"In Viaggio: The Travels of Pope Francis," a documentary co-produced by Italy and the Vatican, served as closing film. During his nine years in service, Pope Francis made 37 journeys to 53 different nations. The movie appeals for global harmony and human unity. Both the Golden Lion Award in Venice and the Golden Bear Award in Berlin were given to the movie.
