2023 New Taipei City Lantern Festival:

2023 Nantou Lantern Festival:

The lantern festival features 12 enormous inflatable doll lamps as well as a giant lantern and fireworks show with nine drones.

2023 Hualien Pacific Ocean Lantern Festival:

There are three primary lighting zones, 600 lanterns to decorate the site, and close to 20,000 lanterns on the main streets of 13 townships and cities in the county, making it Taiwan's largest and most elaborate display of technology and art for the Year of the Rabbit. Red lanterns are a festive way to mark the Year of the Rabbit!

2023 Market Activities in Taiwan

Taipei Sui Sui Market(水水新春市集):

The event will take place from 12:00 noon to 20:00 PM from January 22nd to 29th, 2023. Visitors of all ages—new immigrants, elderly, and children—are welcome to the market during the Spring Festival.

Taichung New Year’s Shopping Market (一中商圈年貨市集):

The event will take place from 11:00 AM to 20:30 PM from January 20th to February 5th, 2023. Visitors of all ages—new immigrants, elderly, and children—are welcome to the market during the Spring Festival.

Location: No. 1, Yizhong St., North Dist., Taichung City (台中市北區一中街商圈)

Tainan Spring Festival Market (水交過年市集):

The event will take place from 15:00 PM to 21:30 PM from January 23rd to 27th, 2023. Visitors of all ages—new immigrants, elderly, and children—are welcome to the market during the Spring Festival.

Location: No. 118, Xingzhong St., South Dist., Tainan City (水交社文化園區)

High-occupancy Control Period:

In terms of National Highways, the Freeway Bureau, MOTC stated that from 13:00 to 18:00 on January 25th, high-occupancy control will be carried out from the Xiaying(下營) system of National Highway No.1 to Toufen(頭份), the Guantian(官田) system of National Highway No.3 to Zhunan(竹南), and the northbound entrance of each interchange.

From January 24th to 29th, from 15:00 to 20:00 every day, the northbound entrance ramps of the Suao(蘇澳), Luodong(羅東), Yilan(宜蘭) and Toucheng(頭城) interchanges of the National Highway No. 5 high occupancy control will also be carried out.

Easing Measures:

In term of National Highway No.6, on January 22nd through 24th, southbound passengers are advised to leave before 6:00 am or after 12:00 pm; on January 24th through 26th, northbound passengers in the central region are advised to leave before 12:00 am, and northbound passengers in the southern area are advised to leave prior to 9:00 in the morning.

As for National Highway No.5, passengers are advised to leave before 5:00 am or after 5:00 pm from January 22nd to 24th, and before 9:00 am from January 24th to 29th for southbound and northbound traffic, respectively. According to the Freeway Bureau, MOTC, January 24th and 25th will be the peak days for those traveling back to the north, and there will be significant traffic jam after noon. Passengers have the option of departing earlier or later or using fast highways.

Public transportation is encouraged by the Freeway Bureau, MOTC. Discounts on the Taiwan Railway, High Speed Rail, National Highway Passenger Transit, and city buses are available to them.
