The first “2019 Indonesian Martial Arts Competition in Taiwan and Martial Art Charity Performance” recently was held in Taipei Stadium Arena.
According to Yahoo News, the “2019 Indonesian Martial Arts Competition in Taiwan and Martial Art Charity Performance” aims to promote the Indonesian popular martial art, Pencak Silat. Besides, the activity’s surplus will be used to help the children in disaster-stricken areas of Indonesia to get a well education. On the day, about 150 participants signed up.
Pencak Silat is an ancient martial art in Southeast Asia, in recent years has developed rapidly on the international stage and was included in the Asian Games 2018. It is expected to be included in the Olympic Games 2024 and the Indonesian martial arts community now is also booming in Taiwan with more than 2000 people are practicing.
In addition to the regular exercises, the Indonesian martial arts group also led everyone to practice the martial arts in the park, for the cultural exchange and social significance.
