The US "Time Magazine" (時代雜誌) announced the World's Greatest Places in 2021 (2021年全世界最佳百大景點), including the National Center of Photography and Images, Taipei (NCPI, 台北國家攝影文化中心), which will open in the spring of 2021, the Taipei Performing Arts Center (TPAC, 臺北表演藝術中心) scheduled to open in 2022, and Yangmingshan National Park (陽明山國家公園), the world's first city quiet park in 2020. Taipei is recognized by Time Magazine as one of the world’s 100 greatest places in the world because of its many recent and upcoming humanistic architecture, which have elevated its status as the capital of culture.

During the spring of 2021, the NCPI will open and become an important center dedicated to researching, preserving and displaying the history of Taiwan’s photography. The TPAC, which will open in 2022, is highlighted by its huge silver sphere. On one side of the building, the appearance is eye-catching, and it will become another city landmark in Taipei. Another architectural project that has attracted much attention is the Hotel Resonance Taipei (台北時代寓所) owned by Hilton Hotels, which has 175 guest rooms. The appearance of the building is famous for its black and white, square frame design, which is intended to evoke the frames on a film roll.

In July, "Time Magazine" announced the annual 100 greatest places in the world that are worth exploring. It also includes Asian locations, such as Beijing, China as the "action-packed metropolis", Lijiang as the "a launch point for adventure"; Japan has "Northern Exposure" Hokkaido, Osaka which is "lively and interesting", and Tokyo which is "preparing for the Olympic Games"; Gyeongju, South Korea, is hailed as a "historical treasure."
