Yu Lei (玉磊), an Overseas Chinese from Myanmar, has congenital spinal deformities. His scoliosis worsened as he aged, eventually having an impact on his life. He underwent nine surgeries in three years, but it wasn't until 2019 that he obtained help from the International Center of China Medical University Hospital in Taiwan and recovered completely.

Yu Lei visited the International Center of China Medical University Hospital in November 2019. Yu Lei started a protracted therapy in Taiwan with the help of compassionate businesses and a difficult correction procedure. The medical staff successfully located the nerves using computer navigation. No nerves were injured during the procedure.

Yu Lei completed the therapy and then went back to Myanmar. Fortunately, with the assistance of Christian friends, he took part in the Overseas Community Affairs Council's program (僑生產學專班) and eventually returned to Taiwan to continue his studies as an overseas Chinese student. Yu Lei also revealed his desire to obtain a job in Taiwan to give back to Taiwanese society, and express gratitude to all the individuals and organizations who aided him.
