Relief Package! Taoyuan City Government adopts 3 principles to help new immigrants & the underprivileged

During the pandemic, the Taoyuan City Government assisted the Taoyuan citizens by allowing them to apply for relief packages online. Once the individuals are eligible for the relief packages, money will be immediately transferred to their bank accounts. It also adopts three principles of "Less strict, more efficient, and Simpler" to support the disadvantaged, new immigrant families and families with young kids.

In terms of social welfare relief, Taoyuan presented five relief plans

  1. "Expanded emergency relief in response to the epidemic", Subsidy of NT$10,000 to NT$30,000 provided to each household
  1. "Care for the disadvantaged with additional living allowances", mainly provided for the disabled, the elderly, children and other financially disadvantaged groups. The application is exempted and a lump sum of NT$4,500 will be transferred as a 3-month subsidy.
  1. "Epidemic prevention subsidy for families with children under 2 years old", Subsidy of NT$10,000 provided to each household
  1. "Relief Measures for Care Service Units", Relief package is provided to the long-term & family caregivers (home, community), and caregivers for early treatment & childcare. Besides, the target audience also includes babysitters and businesses that experience a revenue loss of 50% or above.
  1. For those who are subjected to self-isolation, home quarantine, group Isolation or collective quarantine, each person will be issued NT$1,000 per day, and a total of NT$14,000 "epidemic compensation" for 14-day quarantine will be given.

Besides, the Taoyuan City Government also proposed three local relief measures, including (1) A total of NT$50,000 to NT$40,000 will be issued to the financially disadvantaged families & new immigrants married to Taiwanese and are still waiting for the issuance of ID cards. (2) An emergency assistance will be provided to the underprivileged families with someone unable to work due to some reasons. (3) For low-income, low-middle-income households, or other disadvantaged families in need, physical assistance is provided including vouchers for daily necessities, meals , and supply boxes.
