With the aging of Taiwanese society, the demand for long-term care has increased, and the number of families who hire foreign caregivers has increased year by year. There are currently 44,143 social welfare foreign workers in Taipei, due to the health status and care needs of the care recipients always change. Foreign caregivers must also improve their care skills to ensure the care quality for the care recipient.
This project is a professional team composed of nurse teachers and bilingual interpreters. It conducts health management assessment for the care recipients, and provides the necessary and appropriate skills guidance and life care for foreign caregivers one by one at home such as oral cleaning, patient turn over body, shifting and simple activities.
Ye Xiu-shan (葉琇姍), the Director of Taipei City Foreign and Disabled Labor Office said that foreign caregivers are at the employer's home. Their work skills and living needs are less noticeable. Improving the care skills of foreign caregivers through home training and build a good communication bridge will create a life-optimized for the care recipient and achieving the employers feel at ease when hiring foreign caregivers.
