Kaohsiung City's 23 disability organizations have jointly launched hundreds of Mid-Autumn Festival gift items, becoming a new highlight for this year's gift-giving season. The city's Social Affairs Bureau has partnered with the Lions Clubs International District 300-E5 to promote these heartwarming handmade gifts, hoping to encourage more businesses and citizens to join in and support this public welfare initiative.

Under the guidance of a teacher at a bakery, Ah Feng, a young person with intellectual disabilities, carefully makes pineapple cakes. He says he loves the aroma from the oven, which defines happiness for him. Meanwhile, Ah Man Yi, a person with severe physical disabilities, is busy making handmade soaps. Since she started helping with soap making, she has been able to earn an income during her dialysis breaks and has made many like-minded friends. Ah Man Yi is grateful for the public's support, which has allowed her and other disabled friends to live independently.Under the guidance of a bakery instructor, young adults with intellectual disabilities carefully wrap pineapple filling into dough. Social Affairs Bureau Director Tsai Wan-Fen pointed out that to help the public understand the capabilities of people with disabilities, the Social Affairs Bureau has collaborated with disability organizations to launch the shopping website "iCare Store" (https://www.iustore.com.tw/), selling products from various disability organizations in Kaohsiung. Each Mid-Autumn Festival gift is the result of the hard work and dedication of people with disabilities, who have overcome obstacles to create these items. All products are strictly inspected and have obtained the necessary food business registration numbers and health certificates. Every purchase you make is the greatest support and affirmation for people with disabilities.

To further promote the Mid-Autumn Festival gift items made by disability organizations, a promotional event will be held on August 3rd from 2 PM to 5 PM at the Banyan Tree Plaza on the first floor of the Weiwuying Center. The event will feature tastings of mooncakes, pineapple cakes, and handmade egg rolls, as well as sales of cold brew tea, handmade soaps, and scented bricks. Citizens can not only shop on-site but also experience the heartwarming stories behind these gifts, becoming an important force in supporting people with disabilities.

This collaboration between the Kaohsiung City Government and the Lions Clubs International not only provides more opportunities for people with disabilities to showcase their talents but also makes these handmade gifts the best choice for Mid-Autumn Festival gift-giving.
