Taiwan-U.S. friendship! The US Donates 2.5 million Doses of the Moderna Vaccine. Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses sincere thanks.

The US government donated 2.5 million doses of the Moderna vaccine to Taiwan, which was safely transported to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport on June 20, by a special plane of China Airlines. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs representative expressed sincere thanks to the US on behalf of the Taiwan government and people.

The White House announced on June 3 that Taiwan is included in the first wave of the international vaccine donation program of the U.S. Three U.S. senators who visited Taiwan on June 6 announced that the U.S. will donate a total of 750,000 doses of vaccine. Within the past two weeks, the U.S. carried out various internal coordination and successfully completed the delivery of the vaccines to Taiwan. The original quantity was even increased to 2.5 million doses. The Taiwan government and the people are truly grateful.

In March 2020, Taiwan and the U.S. issued a joint statement of “Taiwan and U.S. Covid Prevention Partnership” to work together to continuously fight the pandemic. After Covid-19 cases in Taiwan increased in May 2021, many U.S. government officials and cross-party members of Congress also publicly expressed support for Taiwan's acquisition of vaccines. Taiwan was deeply touched by the friendship and immediate assistance of the U.S. government. The Taiwan government will also continue to promote cooperation between the two countries in the fight against Covid-19 and continue to protect the health and well-being of the people of Taiwan.
