Vietnam Stands Out in Southeast Asia’s Publishing Industry

Vietnam's publishing industry is signaling optimism despite the complexity of the Covid-19 pandemic. This is during the recent annual meeting of the Southeast Asian Publishing Association (東南亞出版協會).

During this time, the Vietnam Publishing Association (越南出版協會) announced impressive results for 2020, with 36,000 new editions of books published and 400 million copies printed.

Vietnam's publishing industry has basically achieved its business targets, with rapid growth in some categories, such as science and technology and economics, which had an 83.8% increase in book printing, an 18.09% increase in children's books, a 21.6 per cent increase in new out-of-print books and dictionaries, and an 891.69 per cent increase in prints.

In addition, Vietnam has successfully held many book fairs online on the Book365.vn website to commemorate major national festivals. The application of modern technology, with new features and eye-catching interface of the new exhibition methods attract many book lovers.

During the complicated Covid-19 situation, In the context of the complex evolution of the epidemic, digital transformation has become the general trend of the publishing industry.


Despite the many challenges ahead, the members of the Southeast Asian Publishing Association are confident that, in a spirit of cooperation and sharing, its members will work together to overcome difficulties.
