To enable new immigrants and the second-generation of new immigrants across the country to have a chance to express their feelings and share their daily lives in Taiwan, DPP WOMAN (民進黨婦女部) specially organized “Dear hometown, how are you? Graphic & Text Contest for New Immigrants and the Second Generation

Although the call for submissions was only promoted on the Internet, 341 submissions have been received and most of the works are done by Vietnamese and Indonesian new immigrants.

According to statistics from the DPP WOMAN, the submissions received this year are mostly from Vietnam (159 participants), Indonesia (63 participants), and China (47 participants).

In addition, there are 8 participants from Hong Kong and Macau and some participants from Southeast Asian countries, such as Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Myanmar, and Cambodia. Besides, participants are also from the United States, Canada, and with backgrounds living in North Africa, Egypt, and the Republic of Mongolia in the Middle East.

All the submitted works can be read on the website of the DPP WOMAN, and the contest is at the stage of voting by netizens.

On December 17, there will be an official announcement of the winners, with a first prize worth NT$50,000, 4 Excellence Awards with the prize worth NT$20,000, and 10 Honorable Mentions with the prize worth NT$7,000. Besides, there are also 10 Internet Popularity Awards with the prize worth NT$5,000.

This competition invites new immigrants and the second generation to share their feelings of missing their relatives, hometown scenery & food, and the ups and downs of their lives in Taiwan.
