No cases reported yesterday, CECC announces regulations for May 1 Labor Day

No new confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported in Taiwan on Sunday (April 26), the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced.

The CECC reported that 620 additional cases related to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) were reported on April 25. As of writing, a cumulative total of 60,459 cases have been reported among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 58,531. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 429 cases. Of 429 confirmed cases in Taiwan, 343 are imported and 55 are indigenous while 31 are Navy members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship. Of the confirmed cases, there have been 6 deaths, and 281 patients have been released from isolation, with the remainder remaining hospitalized in isolation.

The CECC revealed that on April 20 and 21, out of 460 nationals arriving from Hubei, 4 people are still under medical care. The rest is also under inspections and health measurements.

The CECC stated there are now nearly 3 million confirmed cases of coronavirus in 184 countries/regions as the disease continues to spread. As of writing, 950,245 cases accumulated in the US, 223,759 cases in Spain, 195,351 cases in Italy, 190,614 cases in France, 152,438 cases in Germany. A total of 202,107 deaths worldwide has been reported, and the US has accumulated deaths the most, with more than 50,000 fatalities. Spain, Italy, France, and the UK - the worst-hit European countries - have all recorded more than 20,000 deaths.

The CECC reminded again that Labour Day is approaching, the public should practice the highest-standard social distancing and cough etiquette. If any symptom occurs, including fever or cough, individuals should report it immediately to the airport and the inspection personnel and follow disease control policies when arriving in Taiwan. Individuals also have to conduct 14-day home quarantine after arrival, avoid taking public transportation, and seek medical treatment as soon as possible if symptoms occur. When receiving medical care, individuals need to notify the physician of any history of travel, occupation, contact, and cluster (TOCC) to facilitate timely diagnosis.
