Minimally invasive surgery is a trend in modern medicine. It not only reduces surgical risks and complications but also shortens hospital stays, allowing patients to recover more quickly. Orthopedic doctors state that minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery can be applied to various joint diseases, including rotator cuff injuries, cruciate ligament injuries of the knee, and triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) injuries of the wrist.

A doctor from the Department of Orthopedics at National Taiwan University Hospital explained that minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery involves inserting an endoscope into the joint through several small skin incisions. Using the endoscopic imaging system and surgical instruments, the doctor can accurately repair the damaged tissues. This type of surgery minimizes surgical wounds, reduces the risk of infection, and accelerates the recovery process.Minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery can be applied to various joint diseases. Minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery is an endoscopic procedure that includes a set of precise optical imaging systems. Through 2-3 small incisions, the optical imaging scope is inserted into the joint to observe the condition inside the joint cavity and perform tissue repair or removal. Its greatest advantage is the rapid recovery of the patient after the surgery.

Doctors have shared multiple clinical cases. Mr. Wang suffered from shoulder pain due to long-term farming. After examination, a rotator cuff tear was diagnosed, and his shoulder pain significantly improved after minimally invasive surgery. Mr. Chen sustained a cruciate ligament injury in his knee due to a car accident. Post-surgery, his knee function returned to normal. Mr. Li injured his right wrist while rock climbing, diagnosed with a TFCC tear. After surgical repair, his wrist function also improved significantly.

Arthroscopic surgery has a wide range of applications, including the shoulder, knee, hip, elbow, wrist, and ankle, and is suitable for various conditions such as rotator cuff tears, labral tears, cruciate ligament tears, and carpal tunnel syndrome. Minimally invasive surgery is also effective for cruciate ligament injuries of the knee. Post-surgery, the repaired tissue needs careful immobilization and protection, along with professional rehabilitation therapy. Swelling around the surgical site is a normal reaction and can be alleviated with ice packs. If severe pain, abnormal redness, swelling, heat, or high fever occurs, immediate medical consultation is necessary.

The development of this minimally invasive surgery not only improves treatment outcomes but also allows patients to quickly resume their daily activities.
