Taichung's summer is about to be swept up in a circus storm! The 2024 Taichung Summer Circus Festival, co-hosted by the Taichung City Government Cultural Affairs Bureau and FOCA Formosa Circus Art, will be grandly held on August 24 and 25 at Wenxin Forest Park and Fulfillment Amphitheater.
The highlight of this circus festival, "The Cosmic Adventure: Summer Night Magic Party," is Taiwan's first immersive space circus show. The Fulfillment Amphitheater will transform into a giant space station, inviting audiences of all ages to become astronauts, and embarking on an exciting interstellar adventure. This performance also serves as a warm-up for the upcoming FOCASA Circus Arts Festival in Taichung next year.
"The Cosmic Adventure: Summer Night Magic Party" is divided into three main themes: "Doomsday Crisis," "Exploring Space," and "Rebirth and Unity," reflecting the global warming crisis. Dancers from the National Taiwan University of Sport's dance department will perform "Doomsday Crisis" up close to the audience, creating an immersive apocalyptic atmosphere. The FOCA team will present the circus show "Exploring Space," featuring high-difficulty juggling, cyr wheel, aerial, and acrobatic performances, sure to amaze the audience. Finally, the coolest record store and DJ group "44 Beatz" will link up circus performers and dancers to bring "Rebirth and Unity," kicking off a sci-fi and fun-filled space disco party.
The music for this circus festival is a joint creation by international music prodigy Chiang Rong-Tsung and veteran music producer Chiang San-Sheng, with recording collaboration from the Budapest Film Orchestra, adding a majestic musical atmosphere. The spatial design is a cross-disciplinary collaboration between Tsao Chi Tou Studio and FOCA, transforming the Fulfillment Amphitheater into a giant space station, offering the audience a sensory-stimulating interstellar entertainment party.
