The Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine, Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan has constantly underlined that individuals should pay attention not to import meat products to Taiwan since African swine fever is raging around the world. However, on May 27, five infractions were still seized, and a total fine of 490,000 NTD was imposed. These items included beef jerky from the mainland China, half-boiled egg products brought from Japan, pork biscuits from the mainland China, and unfinished pork lunch boxes from passengers.

Passengers at Songshan Airport claim to have heard and seen a lot of publicity from airport staff members, including that ham, sausage, and other foods are not permitted to enter the country and that if a lunchbox containing pork is consumed on a flight, it will not be allowed to pack in the luggage if it is not completely consumed.

The Bureau further emphasized that foods containing half-boiled eggs are also banned, in addition to beef items. Fruits, beans, seeds, trees, and other plant and animal goods are also illegal to transport to Taiwan. The authority hopes that people would enjoy their travels and come back to Taiwan without breaking laws.
