In order to create a city where happiness and multi-ethnicity are integrated, the Hsinchu City New residents and community cultural exchange activity was held at the Hsinchu City New Residents Family Service Center at 10 a.m. on June 22.
The activity includes finger puppet show from new resident students of Guandong Elementary School, glove puppetry show from new resident students of the Foreign Spouse Care association’s class and the DIY exchange experience of exotic foods, new residents and on-site VIPs experienced how to make the Vietnamese traditional sweet soup that represents the fusion of multi-ethnic culture, let new residents from various countries felt the warmth of Taiwan and narrowed the gap between them.
Ms. Ruan, new resident from Vietnam said that she has been in Taiwan for more than 10 years. She said that when she first came to Taiwan, she couldn’t speak Chinese and was unfamiliar with the environment. After the introducing from Indonesian friend, she participated in the Hsinchu City Government’s life adaptability course. She thinks that the content of the course is rich and practical. Her listening and speaking ability of Chinese has been greatly improved. Her family relationship has become more harmonious, and she has made many good friends. She is currently studying in the second year of junior high school and passed the interpreter training. She deeply felt the city government's intention and care for new residents' friends.
According to the Civil Affairs Bureau, Hsinchu City Government has handled a variety content of New Residents' Living Adaptation courses this year. The content includes language learning, medical and health care common sense, family education, resident legal knowledge, traditional opera theater culture, making dessert, Hsinchu historical and cultural architecture, local folk customs and cultural introduction and multicultural exchange activities.
