According to Surf's up: Bongbong Marcos urges eco-friendly habits to protect Siargao | Inquirer News, as a surfing destination, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. encouraged the people of Siargao to embrace environmentally friendly practices.

During the 27th Siargao International Surfing Cup opening ceremony on October 26 in Siargao Island, Malacañang said that William Vincent Marcos, the President's son, read a speech urging people to preserve and safeguard the environment.
