According to Bohol mayor orders closure of Panglao resort | Inquirer News, A beach resort in Panglao, Bohol province, was temporarily closed by the local authorities due to suspected safety procedure breaches.

Following a Korean tourist's drowning in the resort's swimming pool on November 13, Espacio Resort, which is situated in Sitio Daorong in Barangay Danao, was forced to close. According to Bohol mayor orders closure of Panglao resort | Inquirer News, the resort's operations will be paused while the inquiry is ongoing and the reason of the death is identified, according to Panglao Mayor Edgardo Arcay.

According to police accounts, South Korean swimmer Yongjun Cho, 41, was discovered unconscious in the deepest section of the pool after going for a swim with his family.

Prior to jumping into the pool for a swim, according to Bohol mayor orders closure of Panglao resort | Inquirer News, the victim and his spouse had consumed alcoholic drinks beside the pool, according to the results of the Panglao police's first inquiry.

However, Karen Valiente, the officer in charge of Espacio, claimed that no lifeguard was on duty during the event in a letter to Arcay dated November 22.

According to Valiente, the management was implementing remedial measures to stop such events in the future, like employing a new lifeguard with a license and enhancing surveillance by strategically placing more CCTV cameras around the pool area to increase monitoring and respond quickly to any hazards.
