The "Light Weaving Forest" special exhibition at the Taiwan Wood Story Museum in Guanziling is now open, curated by the Chiayi Branch of the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency. The exhibition combines light and shadow art with craftsmanship techniques to showcase the diverse charm of domestic wood and bamboo materials. The exhibition features three main thematic areas: "Light Weaving Time," "Light Weaving Exhibition Area," and "Light Weaving Rhythm," using LED lighting combined with bamboo and wood craftsmanship to transform tranquil materials into dynamic light and shadow art. The exhibition not only highlights the beauty of craftsmanship but also includes a five-sense experience and cultural and creative products, adding a new attraction to Guanziling’s autumn tourism.
Three Main Themes – New Photo Spots
Before the official opening, the Chiayi Branch invited students from Xiancao Experimental Elementary School for a sneak peek. In the exhibition, six types of domestic wood, including red cypress and Makino bamboo, are transformed through lighting effects into unique resting chairs and forest spirits, delighting children with reactions like “The wood glows!” and “The bamboo is dancing!” These fun responses have become a major highlight of the exhibition. Additionally, the exhibition features "Good Wood Art" and "Good Bamboo Art" as interactive photo spots, enriching the visitor experience.Light Weaving Exhibition Area – Light Weaving Poem, a forest overture composed of woven bamboo and wooden pieces, blending with Japanese architecture to create a poetic atmosphere (Photo/Source: Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency Website)
Five-Sense Experience – Feel the Charm of Domestic Materials
The Chiayi Branch noted that the Taiwan Wood Story Museum is dedicated to allowing the public to experience the beauty of domestic wood. Upon entering the museum, visitors are greeted by the aroma of wood. They can engage their senses by observing, touching, tapping, and smelling 14 types of domestic trees, such as red cypress, Taiwania, camphor, and mahogany, to appreciate their texture and feel. The exhibition also features cultural and creative items such as Alishan Forest 2488 figurines, Tsou tribe wooden patches, and wood light series displayed in Japanese-style window frames, creating a unique atmosphere.Light Weaving Rhythm – Weaving the Illusory Forest Mountain, showcasing the "Forest 2488" series figurines with Alishan forest imagery in the niches of the Japanese-style architecture of the Story Museum, bringing the forestry history and ecological features of Alishan to Guanziling (Photo/Source: Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency Website)
This special exhibition also introduces bamboo elements, using light and shadow to present visual beauty. Visitors can enjoy a five-sense experience while touring the Guanziling Scenic Area and gain a deeper understanding of the sustainable development of domestic wood and bamboo, contributing to the protection of Taiwan’s forest resources.
