Taiwan Immigrants' Global News Network】Editor/ Tim Wu (吳宗翰)

The winning picture books of the "Love Makes Whole" Children's Literature Award were chosen by Taiwan Immigrants’ Global News Network and Noordhoff Craniofacial Foundation, and they were turned into audio-visual animations featuring subtitles of Chinese and English, Chinese and Vietnamese, Chinese and Thai, and Chinese and Indian. New immigrants can enjoy thoughtful and adoring parent-child time with subtitles.

Established in 1995, the Noordhoff Craniofacial Foundation “Love Makes Whole" Children's Literature Award hopes to foster an accepting and tolerable society for children with craniofacial differences. The Foundation employs morning storytelling, theatre, picture books, and invites elementary school students to engage in graphic design to help kids comprehend and learn to appreciate others from diverse backgrounds. Many elementary school instructors have also chosen this serie of work as one of the "Life Education" course resources.

"The King of Saliva" (口水大王) is the work of the winner of the 19th "Love Makes Whole" Children's Literature Award by the Noordhoff Craniofacial Foundation. The author Liu You-lun (劉宥侖) was in the fourth grade of Jiangong Elementary School in Tainan City when he won the award. This picture book records his own story. He regards "drooling" as a feature rather than a problem, and his optimistic and humorous side can be seen everywhere in his works.

When Liu You-lun (劉宥侖) was three and a half years old, the doctor diagnosed  that he was developmentally delayed, yet he had a positive outlook on life. Even if life had many annoyances, he thought there was always a way to get around them, thus he was always quite cheerful.

Writing was also a delightful activity for him. The voice within of him is audible. The judges commended Liu You-lun (劉宥侖) for his humorous and unconstrained visuals. Liu is excited to go on making our planet better and bringing joy to others in the future!
