According to The Straits Times, as more young children get infected with the Omicron type, many pre-schools are struggling to cope with the statewide outbreak of Covid-19 infections.

As more pre-schoolers and employees become ill, eleven principals and operators told The Sunday Times that they are grappling with a dizzying load imposed by tight, ever-changing health rules.

They also noted that before entering the school, centers must confirm that children who have been issued with health risk warnings (HRWs) have tested negative with antigen rapid testing (ARTs).

The issue, according to Nanyang Kindergarten principal Magdalene Ang, comes when some parents fail to notify the school that their children have got the illness.

"And we have to be on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week to handle submissions, contact tracing, and information dissemination to parents and staff," she added.

Staff have had to bar children from entering pre-schools if their parents failed to administer ARTs to those with HRWs.

Mabel Wang, deputy director of corporate services for Anglican Preschool Services and Covid-19 coordinator, said one of its large centers has created up a separate line for parents who have not supplied proof of administering an ART to their kid. When staff members obtain Covid-19, the load of protocols and training is multiplied.
