According to INQUIRER.NET, voter registration in the National Capital Region (NCR) Plus will resume on May 17 as quarantine classification in the area was eased, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced on May 14.

In a briefing, the Comelec said voter registration in the area will be open from Mondays to Fridays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“With this development, the Commission decided to again, open up registration from Monday to Fridays from eight o’clock to five o’clock in the afternoon in areas under general community quarantine or modified general community quarantine,” the Comelec said.

INQUIRER.NET mentions, the Comelec earlier suspended voter registration in NCR Plus—composed of Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and Rizal—following the imposition of strict enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the area amid rising COVID-19 cases.

However, on Thursday night, the Palace announced that quarantine classification in the NCR Plus will be eased to general community quarantine (GCQ) starting May 15 until May 30.

According to the Comelec, as of April 19, there are 58.9 million registered voters in the country.
