Taiwan’s government has promoted a new southbound policy in recent years, and tourism is one of the most important fields. Zhou Shi-bi (周士弼), the director of Taiwan Tourism Bureau, Kuala Lumpur office, believes that the most of the tourists coming to Taiwan from Malaysia are still ethnic Chinese. If we can open up the Muslim market, it is expected to greatly promote Taiwan tourism.
On June 12, the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications held a meeting of the director of overseas office, convening all of them to return to Taiwan. Zhou Shi-bi, the director of Taiwan Tourism Bureau, Kuala Lumpur office, said that Malaysia has 520,000 tourists visiting Taiwan every year, and it is the Southeast Asia country with the largest number of people coming to Taiwan.
He pointed out that the current tourists from Malaysia to Taiwan are mostly ethnic Chinese, accounting for about 88% of the total, and 12% are Muslims. Zhou Shi-zhen said that there is still a lot of room for growth in the Muslim tourist market and it is also a worth market for promoting.
Zhou Shi-bi said that Muslim tourists come to Taiwan dare to spend money and their purchasing power is also very strong. As long as they are the goods that Muslims can buy, they will buy the whole family-sized gift such as buying a lot of cloth in the Yongle market and buying a lot of pineapple cakes.
Zhou Shi-bi pointed out that Muslims like to shop and love flowers. If you let them know that you can see beautiful flowers and do shopping in Taiwan, this is a factor that attracts them. In the future, he hopes to see higher growth rates of Muslim tourists.
In addition to Malaysia's Muslim market, Taiwan Tourism Bureau also promotes Taiwan's temple culture. Wu Zong-lin (巫宗霖), the director of the Taiwan Tourism Bureau Office in Bangkok, said that Thai people like to go pray, the designated itinerary to come to Taiwan is also to go to a well-known temple to worship such as Taipei Xiahai City God Temple and Zhushan Zinan Temple.
Wu Zong-lin said that the woman Ba-Jia-Jiang performance in the travel exhibition in Thailand recently made the Thai people with the local officials deeply impressed. This year's Mazu Pilgrimage Procession also attracted many tourists to visit Taiwan to experience the culture of Pilgrimage Procession.
