In the realm of sports in Hsinchu County, a group of young athletes is once again shining brightly. During the county government’s supervisory meeting, County Mayor Yang Wen-Ke specially commended the outstanding performances of the Liu Jia Elementary School tug-of-war team and table tennis players Chen Rui-Ling from Shi Xing Elementary School and Zhuang Yun-Zhan from Liu Jia Elementary School in recent sports competitions. These excellent athletes have consistently achieved remarkable results in their respective events, bringing honor to Hsinchu County.
The Liu Jia Elementary School tug-of-war team demonstrated resilience and superb skills in the national indoor tug-of-war competitions among schools, clinching the championship in the eight-person mixed school team category, the runner-up in the mixed class team category, and both the championship and fourth place in the five-person boys' class team category. Coach Wang Qun-Yuan mentioned that the uniqueness of this team lies in its inclusive structure, where any willing student can join without selection. Through rigorous training and discipline, this inclusive approach has forged a team that faces challenges fearlessly. Their efforts not only won them the competition but also earned them the overall spirit award from the event. The LiuJia Elementary School Tug-of-War Team is a regular champion in national tug-of-war competitions. In the field of table tennis, Zhuang Yun-Zhan from Liu Jia Elementary School and Chen Rui-Ling from Shi Xing Elementary School also delivered outstanding performances. Sixth-grader Zhuang Yun-Zhan stood out in the 113th National Junior Table Tennis Player Selection, securing ninth place. Coach Chen Yun-Wei stated that Zhuang’s achievements are the result of years of hard training and full support from his family. He displayed a calm and composed attitude during matches, facing strong opponents without fear and maintaining firm confidence even when trailing.
Chen Rui-Ling's table tennis journey has been filled with surprises and breakthroughs. At the age of 12, she challenged herself to compete in a higher age group, securing third place in the 13-year-old category of the 113th Junior Table Tennis Ranking Tournament and becoming a member of the Chinese Taipei Junior Team. Impressively, she clinched the runner-up title in the 13-year-old singles category at the 63rd Japan International Table Tennis Invitational Championships, bringing pride to Taiwan. Her mother revealed that Chen Rui-Ling began playing table tennis to delay myopia, inspired by her love for reading when transitioning from kindergarten to first grade, inadvertently sparking her passion for the sport.
County Mayor Yang Wen-Ke stated that the outstanding performances of these children are not only the result of individual effort but also a testament to Hsinchu County's grassroots sports development. He emphasized that the county government will continue to support sports development and increase competition subsidies and athlete allowances, hoping that more children will find their passion and goals in the field of sports. He encouraged these young athletes to keep striving for excellence, bringing further glory to themselves and their hometowns.
