Say "NO" to Bribery, The NIA Invites New Residents to Participate Together

With the approach of the presidential and vice-presidential election, to avoid new residents of being first-time voters getting involved in bribery traps because of their incomprehension towards laws, the Yunlin County Service Center of the Southern Taiwan Administration Corps of the NIA takes the opportunity of family education day to invite the Yunlin District Prosecutors Office to conduct the advocacy of anti-bribery. Also, a coffee lecturer, Xu Huixin, who is a new resident from mainland China, teaches new residents to grind and roast coffee beans by hand. The activity is full of a strong aroma of coffee so that the new residents at the event could feel this country's warm hospitality through making and tasting coffee together.

As technology has developed rapidly, vote-buying tricks have also become diverse. Today's advocacy course of laws, the director of Taiwan Yunlin District Prosecutors Office, Liu Mengzheng, further explains the relevant penalty for bribery and mentioned reporting bribery. The highest award for reporting the presidential and vice-presidential elections is up to 15 million NTD, and the part of the legislative elections is up to 10 million NTD to encourage people to work together to reshape the voting system. Apart from the advocacy of laws, the Yunlin Service center also invites a coffee lecturer, Xu Huixin, who is a new resident from mainland China, to teach the new residents and families to experience the process of making coffee together. Xu Huixin has come to the Gukeng township of Yunlin County for more than 20 years and now serves as a coffee lecturer at the Jianghu Elementary School.  She specially prepares the coffee beans that were planted and roasted by herself to share with the new residents at the activity and encourages them to grow in this beautiful place.

Huang Wen Zheng, the director of the Yunlin Service Center, states that to implement the care for new residents, the service center holds "Family Education and Advocacy of Laws Course" for them to adapt the life in Taiwan more quickly. With the approach of elections, to avoid new residents getting involved in bribery traps, the importance of anti-bribery has been strengthened and reinforced. It is expected that new residents would have a correct concept of rules of law to work together to reshape Taiwan's electoral system.
