The Ministry of Agriculture will continue to hold "The 6th Taiwan-UK Joint Agriculture Dialogue" this year with a focus on plant protein, influenza prevention and control, and other issues in order to improve trade exchanges with the United Kingdom. Additionally, the two countries signed an agricultural cooperation memorandum in 2021 to examine and enhance bilateral agricultural cooperation arrangements.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, agricultural exports to the United Kingdom in the previous year came to around US$37 million, while agricultural imports from the United Kingdom were about US$593 million. The prevention and management of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), collaboration in the use of developing plant protein products, agricultural commerce, and scientific exchanges on plant variety verification are just a few of the issues that will be covered in this discourse.

The past two years have seen a significant outbreak of HPAI in several nations, which has had an effect on the poultry sector. There has also been a shortage of chicken and eggs internationally, and manufacturing prices have gone up. In order to strengthen epidemic control, the Chief Veterinary Officer of the United Kingdom traveled to Taiwan with the delegation in order to meet with representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Veterinary Research Institute, and the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Agency. The purpose of the meetings was to exchange perspectives on pathogen detection, prevention, and control strategies.

The Ministry of Agriculture also said that Taiwan looks forward to expanding its trade in agricultural products with the UK, citing it as a significant trading partner.
