New Covid-19 infection cases drop in the Philippines

According to The Manila Times, the country’s tally of new Covid-19 cases continues to drop, with the Department of Health reporting 5,790 cases on May 16.

There were 7,541 new recoveries.

This brings the total to 1.143 million cases, of which 54,904 are active.

Majority of the cases are either mild, asymptomatic, or moderate.

The death toll increased to 19,191 with 140 new deaths.

Genetic analysis revealed Homotherium split from other ancient cats around 18 million years ago, making this mummy a rare link to feline evolutionary origins. Researchers are now examining its DNA and anatomy further, marveling at the discovery's historical significance.
