Taiwanese hot pot and Taiwanese beef noodle soup were named as the world's 29th and 18th best soups, respectively, by the latest "Taste Atlas" ranking of the top 100 soups in the world. There is no set recipe for Taiwanese hot pot, the guide noted. Instead, a pot of broth is used to simmer a variety of ingredients, and the finished dish is then served with dipping sauce. It is a suitable dish for chilly and rainy weather.

The beef noodle and its soup are seen by the guide to be particularly suited for eating in the winter, and a beef noodle festival is even organized each year in Taipei where different restaurants and chefs may compete for the title of champion of the year.
