New Resident Teachers are Teaching New Southbound Languages in Taiwan

The founder of Jiudi Learning Class (諦學堂) is the new resident from Hong Kong, Li Sancai (李三財) and he is  helping other new southbound countries new residents to open the courses, and the content of the courses are extended to the Laos, Hindi, and other languages. The course will help the new residents in Taiwan to teach their own languages, increase the economic income, and at the same time integrate into Taiwan society.

According to Nownews, the teacher, Siti Nurholisoh (福美) said “terima kasih” in the podium, and the students also echoed it, the meaning is “thank you” in Indonesian language, it is a common practice in Jiudi Learning Class. Jiudi Learning Class taught by the new residents and Southeast Asian students who come to Taiwan to study and become the language teacher, let the Taiwanese have easier access to the Southeast Asian culture.

Siti Nurholisoh studied in National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) and at that time, she discovered the job opportunities in the school, she gave her resume and in 2017, she began to teach the Indonesian language in the school.

Siti said that in fact, many Taiwanese do not know what kind of country Indonesia is. The course has attracted many students that interested in Indonesia, made her very surprised. Their motivation to learn Indonesian most of it because there are Indonesian migrant workers in their family, has the Indonesian spouse, or plans to travel to Indonesia.

Lujing (呂竟) the agency staff said that because of the work needs, he came to learn the language, he has studied Malay, Filipino, and Indonesian, in order to communicate with the migrant workers and students in Southeast Asia in Taiwan. The other on, Chen Guozheng (陳國正), half Indonesian, in order to visit the family came to learn the Indonesian language.

Lujing said that Taiwan has many regulations for marrying the Southeast Asians, you have to marry in the local area, need to interview through the local Taiwan representative office, therefore can return back to Taiwan for the registration. Now, he wants to learn Indonesian language, to work in the Immigration Department in the future, do the things that related with the new resident issues.
